This year’s first named storm is likely to form soon and it will be named Ana. The official hurricane season is June 1st to November 30th. Last year was a record setting hurricane year with 31 named storms. This year will likely be the same. The expected named storms will be from 13 to 20, which is a lot. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) which is a government agency that predicts hurricanes has said that the new normal of average hurricanes has gone up. Mostly due to warmer waters and weak trade winds (allows warmer air to pass through).
In my opinion I fully think this is due to climate change. The less hurricanes the better and we shall see what will happen this year.
