The 2022 MLB postseason is starting soon. I will be predicting all of the Wild Card Series matchups, and explaining why I chose them. Let’s begin.
Rays vs. Guardians: Guardians in 2
The Rays’ inability to score runs in the clutch will determine this series, I think. Cleveland has a great bullpen that will make it even tougher for Tampa’s offense.
Phillies vs. Cardinals: Cardinals in 3
The Cardinals have elite pitching and offensive starpower. I’m a Phillies fan, and I really just don’t think they can win these types of series. They might take a game behind Kyle Schwarber, but that’s all I see them winning.
Mariners vs. Blue Jays: Blue Jays in 3
This should be one of the most interesting series in the Wild Card. Seattle ended their 20-year drought behind rookie sensation Julio Rodriguez, among others. Rodriguez missed late season time with back pain, but should return during this series. On Toronto’s side of things, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was incredible, Alejandro Kirk was a big key to success, and Bo Bichette hit .403 in the month of September.Ultimately, Toronto, I think, will win this.
Padres vs. Mets: Mets in 3
This is a matchup to look forward to without a doubt. Pete Alonso, Jacob DeGrom, and others propelled a magical season for New York. San Diego had Manny Machado and others. But the Padres lost Fernando Tatis Jr. to a PED suspension, and that could be a factor in this series.
We’ll see what happens next.
