NASA gave SpaceX a contract to go to Europa

NASA gave SpaceX a contract to go to and study Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. The contract is about $178 million dollars. The mission is called “Europa Clipper”, and it is supposed to happen in October 2024. The mission will use a Falcon Heavy rocket, and it will happen at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA will find out if Europa, an icy moon, could have conditions suitable for life. The moon is 90% the size of Earth’s moon, and it was discovered by Galileo Galilei, a famous astronomer from the 16th and 17th century. The moon is thought to have twice as much water below it’s crust as all the Oceans combined on Earth.
