President Joe Biden signs an executive order which adds measles to the list of quarantinable diseases. That means that if someone gets measles, they will have to be quarantined. Many Afghans who have recently fled to the US have measles, which is spreading quickly. Measles was fully eliminated from the US in 2000, but people coming from overseas have brought the disease with them. All Afghans are now required to be vaccinated against measles to enter the country. Afghan refugees are also being offered Covid-19 testing and vaccination. Measles is a very contagious disease, and can spread very quickly. Symptoms for measles will come 7-14 days after an infection. The early symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, and red watery eyes. After a while, red spots start coming all over the body.
