German Chancellor steps down

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, steps down after 16 years in the position. Now, Germans are voting for a new government. Currently, as of September 25, the German center-left Social Democratic party is just ahead of Merkel’s center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and it’s partner, the Christian Social Union. The Green party is also close behind, and so are the libertian Free Democratic Party, who all have percentages which are in the double digits. The CDU and the Social Democratic party both may want to form a coalition with the Greens. If you want to learn more about parliament, read the second paragraph of this article
