Colorado had big wildfires

Boulder County, Colorado, had a big wildfire recently. This was a rare event, as wildfires don’t usually happen in the winter, especially in places like Boulder County. Here, the ground is usually moist from all of the snow. Colorado has had a big drought recently, in which from July to December, Denver got only over an inch of precipitation. Boulder County only got one inch of snow from September to December, even though it usually receives about 30 inches. All of this plus the fact that it had a warm fall, will lower the amount of water in the soil, which is perfect for a fire to happen. There was wind up to 105 mph which spread the flames. Climate change cannot be blamed for the wind, but it can be blamed for the fires. People need to work together to stop climate change.
