Peter Thiel is leaving Meta’s board

Peter Thiel, a billionaire and a cofounder of Paypal, has announced he is leaving Meta’s board of directors. Peter Thiel co-founded Paypal along with others, including Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and the world’s richest person. Thiel replaced Musk as Paypal CEO at one point in time as well. Meta is Facebook’s parent company, so it owns Facebook. It also owns Instagram and Whatsapp, two other very popular social media platforms. Thiel was an early investor in Facebook, and has served on the board since 2005. Facebook has hit a $1 trillion dollar market cap recently, but has fallen since, and fell 26% recently. Thiel is a controversial person, as he supported former president Donald Trump actively in the past. He has not expressed his views much against Trump in recent years, but he has supported other Republicans.
