Nets trade James Harden to 76ers for Ben Simmons

The Brooklyn Nets have traded guard James Harden and Paul Millsap to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and 2 first-round picks in the 2022 NBA Draft and the 2027 draft.

As a 76ers fan, I am a huge fan of Harden on the court, so I like this trade because he is a special talent. Even better, Philly got rid of Ben Simmons, who had an awful showing in the second round against the Atlanta Hawks. As the trade deadline neared, rumors of Harden coming to Philadelphia were swirling. I didn’t think they were true, however.

Harden began his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder, then he was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he spent most of his career. After some drama in the 2020 offseason, Harden was traded to Brooklyn, creating a Big 3 with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. He is eligible to sign a 4-year, $223 million extension with the Sixers in August.

The 76ers are getting moved up in the favorites to win the NBA Finals conversation, while the Nets are still the favorites at many sportsbooks. I am going to miss Seth Curry and Andre Drummond, but I can’t wait to see Harden with the 76ers because I think he will boost the team’s 3-point shooting!
