6 days ago, a cargo ship, the Felicity Ace, was carrying almost 4,000 new Volkswagen Group vehicles and it caught fire in the Atlantic Ocean. There are exactly 3,965 vehicles on the ship, and 189 of those are Bentleys, about 1,100 are Prosches, and the rest are an unspecified number of Audis, Volkswagens, and most likely, Lamborghinis. Volkswagen (VW) is a very big car company, and it owns a lot of different companies, such as Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, Bugatti, and Bentley. An economist expected the losses to be around $255 million, but now thinks it is about $282 million. This estimate is not including salvage (to recover items from sea) costs or downstream dealership losses. This estimate also does not include environmental costs, lost crew wages, or the cost of the rescue. All 22 crew members were evacuated when the ship caught fire. The fire has started to die down now, as it does not have much left to burn now.
