Walmart has apologized for selling Juneteenth-themed ice cream, which was a controversial move. The ice cream was Celebration Edition, and it was “a red velvet and cheesecake-flavored dessert,” and it was sold under the company’s great value label. The ice cream label said, “Share and celebrate African American culture, emancipation and enduring hope.” Juneteenth is a holiday on June 19, and it celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the past. Juneteenth became an official federal holiday last June.
