Cameron Smith wins 150th Open Championship

Cameron Smith won the 150th Open Championship today, with a -20, a tie for the lowest score ever in a major championship. On the 17th hole in round 4, he was stuck in the bunker, but made a great shot to set up a par that would keep him above Rory McIlroy for good. At the beginning of the final day, Smith was four strokes behind McIlroy, but got a 64 in the final round. He got a whopping eight birdies on Sunday and no bogeys. But his putt on the 17th was the real nail in the coffin.

Personally, I wish that McIlroy won because it would’ve been nice to see him win the major he deserves. Not that I don’t like Smith, but I really learned who he was today. From the sounds of it, however, he seems like a very skilled and talented golfer.

Here are the final scores from the 150th Open Championship:

Cameron Smith: -20
Cameron Young: -19
Rory McIlroy: -18
T4. Viktor Hovland:-17
T4. Tommy Fleetwood:-14
T6. Dustin Johnson: -13
T6. Brian Harman: -13
T8. Bryson DeChambeau, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay: -12
T15. Xander Schauffele, Adam Scott, Francesco Molinari and 3 others: -10
T21. Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick, Scottie Scheffler, and 3 others: -9
T28. Will Zalatoris, Tony Finau, Corey Conners and 3 others:-8

That’s it for the 150th Open Championship. It was fun to watch, and I hope you enjoyed it.
