Elon Musk has recently revealed some things about Tesla’s impending robot, Tesla Optimus. First, some background. Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has been slowly growing closer to the Chinese government. For example, he helped Tesla get the first car factory in China that is fully owned by a foreign automaker. He also sometimes praises China’s engineering and scientific prowess, while also not saying that much criticism of the bad things the country does. Recently, he was invited to write a column to publish in the Cyberspace Administration of China’s official publication. In that, he wrote a section about the Tesla Optimus robot. To summarize the entire thing, it basically said that the bots were initially going to replace people in jobs that are repetitive, boring, and dangerous. He said the vision is for them to help in people’s everyday lives, and do tasks such as cooking and caring for the elderly.
