Passengers on an Airplane flew 13 hours – just to end up where they started

An Emirates flight from Dubai to Auckland, New Zealand flew for 13 hours before landing back in Dubai. This happened because Auckland’s airport shut down its domestic and international terminals due to heavy rain. The flight started from Dubai’s airport at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, and turned back around halfway through its 8,824 mile journey. It landed again in Dubai a little after midnight. Auckland’s airport said no international flight would be allowed to land before 7.a.m local time on Sunday. Domestic flights are allowed to fly from 12 P.M. local time Saturday. This flight is scheduled to try the journey again on Sunday.
