There has been a leakage in a Florida toxic wastewater plant

In Piney Point, Florida, there has been a leakage in a toxic wastewater reservoir. Around 300 homes have been evacuated, and a highway in the area was closed. The Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, declared an emergency, which allows more money to be spent for stopping the flood. The money would be spent on pumps and cranes. The water itself does not seem to be radioactive, even though the leak is from a toxic wastewater plant.

The reservoir is 77 acres, and has tons of water with phosphorus and nitrogen in it. There are 600 million gallons of water, and the phosphorus and nitrogen is from an old phosphorus plant. Rocks have been placed to try and block the leak, but with no luck. Florida is managing to pump out 33 million gallons a day into Tampa Bay, with the help of emergency workers and Florida’s national guard. Most of the area around the reservoir is agricultural, so it is important that the flood is stopped before it reaches there.
