The US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved Pfizer’s vaccine for 12 to 15 year olds. Pfizer did testing on 2,260 12-15 year olds, and the vaccine worked perfectly and did not give any serious side effects.
The CDC has not recommended use of the vaccine yet, but it might soon. Until the recommendation, the vaccinations of people in this age group will not begin, but the Biden Administration said they will mobilize vaccines and get them ready. Because of the new FDA approval, almost 17 million new people are eligible for the vaccine, and 85% of the entire population is able to get the vaccine. Pfizer is still testing the vaccine in people 6 months to 11 years. Vaccines made by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are only approved for people older than 18.
