SIXERS KNOCK OUT WIZARDS TO MAKE 2ND ROUND

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia 76ers closed out their first-round series against the Washington Wizards. What’s impressive about this is that they did this without the help of star Joel Embiid (torn meniscus). Hours before the game, Ben Simmons and Seth Curry met up and played Call of Duty: Warzone together. Simmons challenged Curry to get 30 points and Curry challenged Simmons to get a triple-double. Both players backed up their promises. The Sixers will host the Atlanta Hawks for round 2, beginning Sunday. Sixers fans can’t wait. During the game, they were chanting, “We want Brooklyn!” as the seconds ticked off in Game 5.

The Sixers will need to have their franchise center all healthy and ready to go for the next round. He has a few days to relax and recuperate from his torn meniscus. Embiid hopes that the injury he suffered will not keep him out of the game for very long. With a capacity crowd at the Wells Fargo Center, the Sixers had the place going wild in the first half when Simmons hit Tobias Harris for a 3 and their first lead of the night. Simmons was shooting plenty of free throws as the Wizards were playing a game of Hack-A-Ben. Wizards coach Scott Brooks may have coached his final game with Washington with his 5-year, $35 million contract expired. Brooks apparently wanted to stay in DC. Curry set his postseason career high, breaking his previous record of 22 against the Clippers as a Maverick in the bubble last year.
