Suns advance to first NBA Finals since 1993

On Thursday, the Phoenix Suns advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993. They beat the Los Angeles Clippers in 6 games.

Chris Paul came into his former team’s building and scored 41 points, a playoff career high. He also has had tough luck in the postseason, including blowing a 3-1 series lead in the first round last year.“I just kept thinking, if we do what we’re supposed to do, I get the last laugh. So you stay the course long enough, you break ‘em, and that’s what we did. “ Paul said.

Suns coach Monty Williams said of Paul, “There were questions about his production before tonight, and in my heart I felt like it was a matter of time. I didn’t know it was going to be like that, but that’s who Chris is. He was tired and he was still making those kinds of plays– getting to the basket, the 3s, orchestrating everything.”

Paul was fighting back tears during the postgame trophy presentation.

Devin Booker scored 22 points and Deandre Ayton scored 16 and had 17 rebounds.

The Suns will play either the Bucks or the Hawks in the NBA Finals.
