A solar storm is most likely going to hit Earth today, July 12. Solar winds with speeds up to 1.6 million kilometers per hour are expected to hit Earth, and might take out the GPS and internet because of it. This solar flare is caused by explosions on the sun, which release energy, high speed particles, and light. Most satellites that are in the upper layer of the atmosphere might be affected, because of a geomagnetic storm that might be caused in the Earth’s magnetosphere.
