A Chinese spacecraft will soon crash-land on earth. The twist is though, that no-one knows where the spacecraft will land. The rocket is 10 stories tall, has the weight of 2 school buses, is 98 feet long, and it is 20 tons. It was launched late in April of this year, and it is expected to enter the atmosphere late Saturday (May 7) or early Sunday (May 8). The spacecraft is moving in space at the speed of 18,000 mph. When it was launched, it was carrying part of China’s new space station. There is a rare but not impossible chance that the rocket will kill someone when crashing.
It could hit New York, Los Angeles, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, the Nigerian capital of Abuja or Beijing. There is a bigger chance of it landing in the ocean, though. The Aerospace Corporation in California is putting the chance of it landing in water at 75%, and it says most of the rocket will burn up in the atmosphere – around 60% to 80%. The Space Command in the U.S. is tracking the rocket.
