A huge iceberg released over 150 billion tons of freshwater into the ocean

A huge iceberg released over 150 billion tons of freshwater into the ocean. The iceberg’s name is A-68, and it broke off from Antarctica in July of 2017. It started slowly moving across the Southern Ocean, and the iceberg was getting too close to South Georgia, an island (not to be confused with the US state Georgia). If the iceberg went aground onto the island, it would make it hard for island wildlife to get to the sea to feed. Luckily, the iceberg melted before it reached, preventing it from getting stuck, but, because it shrunk, it released over 150 billion tons of freshwater into the ocean, which could damage the island’s marine and sea life.
