A new Brazil statue of Jesus that is being built is bigger than Rio de Janeiro’s(a city in Brazil) statue of “Christ the Redeemer.” This new statue will be in southern Brazil, and will be about 140 feet tall. Rio de Janeiro’s statue is 125 ft. tall, which is about 15 feet shorter. The construction of this new Jesus statue started in 2019, but it’s head and arms were added last week. It’s armspan is 118 feet wide, compared to the 90 feet of the “Redeemer.” This statue was $320,000 to build, which was raised from donations. The “Redeemer” closed for visiting last March because of Covid-19.
