A teenager in Southern California pushed a bear off of a wall in order to protect her dogs. The bear had 2 cubs, and they were walking on a wall in someone’s backyard. Within seconds, dogs came running out of the house, barking at the bear. The cubs retreated, and then the bear tried to pick up the baby dog. The teenager, named Hailey Morinico, rushed outside and pushed the bear off the wall to protect her dogs. The bear was a black bear, and it probably weighed 150 pounds. The bear was trying to protect her cubs, and the dogs were probably trying to protect the backyard. There are expected to be 30,000 – 40,000 black bears left in California.
