Facebook, the social media giant, has had shocking truths revealed about it by a whistleblower, “a person that reveals secrets about a public, private, or government organization that are illegal, illicit, unsafe, fraud, or abuse of taxpayer funds.” The whistleblower’s name is Frances Haugen, a former Facebook employee. She said she joined Facebook in 2019, and found out that when Facebook had to make a decision between the good of the public and its own interests, it chose its own interests. Haugen hopes that the government will make regulations to monitor Facebook’s activities. Facebook has grown a lot in the past 3 years, as its revenue went up from $56 billion in 2018 to a projected $119 billion this year. It’s market cap also soared from $375 billion to $1 trillion a few months ago, but has fallen again to around $920 billion. Facebook also owns Whatsapp and Instagram. It is the 6th biggest company in the world, right behind Amazon, and right in front of Tesla.
