The US spent billions of dollars training the Afghanistan army, which surrendered without putting up a fight. The Afghan army had more people and better equipment, but they lacked the key element to fighting well – motivation. They were not motivated to fight, so they surrendered when there was virtually no bloodshed.
So many US citizens and Afghanistan citizens who helped the US government in the war were hastily evacuated. The Afghan president fled the country, and he has been criticized for it. Many other Afghan officials stayed in the country. Now that the Taliban have taken over, many people are scared about what will happen to women. The Taliban put strict rules for women in the past when it was in control.
