Amazon, one of the biggest companies in the world, just recently announced a robot. The robot’s name is Astro, and it will be sold for $999. It is pretty small, about the size of a small dog. It goes on 3 wheels, and it has a 10-inch touchscreen, which can play music or display tv shows. It can recognize people, if you want it to, so you can put something like a snack or drink in the back compartment and tell it to give it to someone somewhere else in your house. It has a camera attached to a 42 inch arm, which can be used to patrol your house while you are gone. You can also call people on the screen, and you can use the camera to make a map of your house when you just set it up. Finally, you can control Astro from your phone.
Astro cannot go up or down stairs, and it does not have arms to hold things. You cannot buy it though, unless you get an invitation from Amazon, because Amazon does not want to build too many of them, because the robot may be a flop and not sell much. Recently though, many people who helped build Astro said it does not work well and it is very fragile. We will just have to see what happens.
