On September 8, the Buffalo Bills will take on the Los Angeles Rams in the first NFL game of the season. Here’s my predictions for the game.
The Bills had an incredible season last year, and almost went to the AFC Championship Game. The fan reaction to the loss in Kansas City prompted the NFL to change the postseason overtime rules, as Buffalo never got the chance to touch the ball in OT. But Josh Allen’s squad finished 11-6, won the AFC East, dominated the Patriots in the Wild Card game, and were 13 seconds away from hosting the AFC Championship. The Bills’ run in 2021 made them Super Bowl favorites in 2022. QB Josh Allen, WR Stefon Diggs, TE Dawson Knox, and the addition of linebacker Von Miller make this team extremely dangerous.
The Rams won it all last year, hence them hosting the first game this year. They won the NFC West at 12-5, destroyed the Cardinals in the Wild Card, nearly blew a huge lead against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, came back down 10 against the 49ers, and then, of course, won Super Bowl LVI in their own building against the Bengals. QB Matt Stafford, WR Cooper Kupp, DE Aaron Donald and company might be able to run it back this year.
The last time these two met in 2020, the Rams were down 28-3, came back to take a 32-28 lead, only for Buffalo to win it 35-32. But that was before they had Stafford.
Now for the predictions. I think this will be a great game, possibly one of the best all year, but……
Prediction: Rams win 35-31
I know, I know, the Bills are Super Bowl material, but the Rams have something that I don’t think the Bills have: an elite defense. I think there will be a couple defensive touchdowns, but the Rams will take this one.
