Blackberry will stop supporting its old phones on Jan. 4

Blackberry will stop supporting its old phones on Jan 4. That means old Blackberry’s will not be able to call, send texts, and use 911. Blackberries were discounted by RIM, a company that used to make blackberries, in 2016. Many other companies build blackberries now. The company will stop supporting them now. The phones that are impacted by this were made around 2013 and before. Blackberry phones were popular many years ago, but after the rise of iOS (Apple) and Android software led to the decline of Blackberry phones. In 2010, there were 18.8 million Blackberry users. But last year, in 2021, there were just 200,000 users. This number will keep on declining, as Apple and Android have dominated the phone markets in recent years.
