Blue Origin’s New Shepard Capsule caught on fire yesterday. The failure happened a minute after launch, and it made Blue Origin do an emergency abort, which triggered the escape system. The capsule luckily had no-one onboard, and so no-one was seriously injured. Blue Origin said after that the escape system worked properly and didn’t make any major mistakes.
What is Blue Origin? Blue Origin is a private company founded and owned by Jeff Bezos, who is also the founder of Amazon. Bezos helped make Amazon one of the biggest companies in the world, and he recently stepped down as CEO. Blue Origin is a space company, and it is a competitor with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
