Booster shots for the vaccine start

For Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine, booster shots have been approved in the US for certain people. The CDC said people 65 and older, people in nursing homes, and people that are 50 – 64 that have health problems should get the booster shot 6 months after they get their first dose. The CDC didn’t endorse it, but people who are 18 and older with health problems can choose to get a booster shot. There is one last group of people that can get the booster shot – people that have jobs that put them at an increased risk of infection, like teachers and doctors. That group of people was added in a very unusual way – the CDC director overruled her advisory committee, which has happened only twice since 2000. You can only get the booster shot if you got both of Pfizer’s vaccine doses, not Moderna’s or J&J’s. A booster shot for the Moderna vaccine may be approved soon.
