Braves vs. Phillies 7/27/22

Today, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves 7-2 at home. I was at the game. Here’s my recap of the game.

There was no scoring in the first three innings, but there were strong showings from both starting pitchers. Phillies starter Kyle Gibson, who wound up getting the win, allowed 2 of Atlanta’s 5 hits in the first three innings, while Braves starter Charlie Morton held Philadelphia to just one hit in the first three innings. We had a really nice view of the game. Our seats were in the upper deck behind home plate. The sun was very hot, however.

My dad and I decided to take a walk around the park in about the 5th inning. As we were walking around, the Phillies started heating up. They put up 5 runs in the 5th, 2 of them courtesy of hits from Alec Bohm. Odubel Herrera stole two bases in the fifth for the Phillies. Atlanta responded with a 2-run home run from Matt Olson in the 6th, but Philly hit back with 2 runs of their own.

The Phillies closed out the win behind stellar pitching from Connor Brogdon and Brad Hand. Atlanta only mustered one hit in the final 3 innings, and that was with two outs in the 9th inning off of Andrew Bellatti. As of the time I’m writing this article, the Phillies are tied with the St. Louis Cardinals for the final NL wildcard spot.

Overall, I always love going to Phillies games every year, and today was no different. The seats are wonderful, the stadium food is good, and the giveaways are always nice. Regardless of how the Phillies are doing, I look forward to seeing them every year.
