Eagles Trade 1st-round selection to Miami

Yesterday, there was a blockbuster trade between the Philadelphia Eagles, the Miami Dolphins, and the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles traded the 6th and 156th (fifth-round pick) in the 2021 NFL Draft to the Dolphins, and got the 12th, 123rd (fourth round) and a first-round pick in next year's draft in return. San Francisco got the third overall pick in exchange for the 12th pick and a fifth round pick this year, and a third-round pick in 2022.

This is bad because the Eagles might have traded away the Face of the Franchise. However, it could be good because Howie Roseman said he was thinking about trading up for BYU’s QB Zach Wilson, the 2nd overall prospect, but felt it was safer to move back in the draft. Also, if they did trade up for Wilson, it would be a huge quarterback problem and a battle between Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Jalen Hurts. Sitting at number 12, that situation is less likely to happen.

I think that the Eagles need to get a wide receiver or maybe a cornerback, but I don’t really know the wide receivers that will be available at 12. It will definitely be interesting to see how this all plays out.

The 2021 NFL Draft takes place on April 29th, 2021.
