Chicago White Sox Win The AL Central

All Win The AL Central

The Chicago White Sox have clinched the AL Central for the first time since 2008. They pulled off this feat by beating the Cleveland Indians, 7-2 in the first game of a doubleheader. The White Sox also made the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive season, marking the first time in team history they have played October baseball in back-to-back years. The only difference is they played a full 162 game season.

The Indians won game 2 of the doubleheader 5-3,but it didn’t take away the joy for the White Sox and their fans. Due to the new rule that doubleheader games will last 7 innings instead of 9, both games of the doubleheader lasted 7 innings. In the 2nd inning of the clinching game, Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, and Tim Anderson all hit homers. Imagine 3 home runs in one inning. Isn’t that crazy? Anderson hit his 2nd homer of the game, which was his 6th career multi-home run game.

Indians pitcher Aaron Civale only pitched 1.2 innings and gave up all 7 of Chicago’s runs. Tim Anderson played an outstanding game, with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. This is big for the White Sox, heading into the playoffs with a division title under their belt.
