China just recently made a law limiting the amount of time kids can play video games. Kids can not play video games on school days, and they can only play for 1 hour a day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holiday evenings. China already had a limit of 90 minutes of gaming time on weekdays and 3 hours of gaming time on weekends, but many people complained that this limit was too generous, and that it wasn’t being strictly enforced. This new limit is to prevent addiction in kids and to help them focus on other things, like their studies. Many online gaming companies like Tencent Holdings have been criticized by a government newspaper for being too addictive.
