A Chinese rover made it into Mars orbit on Wednesday (2/10/21). Its mission is to find signs of ancient life. China’s political ruling party has gotten fame for this mission.
Even though China has gotten its rover into Mars orbit, it still has a hard job in front of it. It is very hard to land a spacecraft on Mars. There are many broken Russian and European spacecraft on the surface. There is also one crashed US spacecraft on the surface. But if China lands its rover, it will be the second country after the US to land its spacecraft on Mars. The US has landed 8 total rovers and spacecrafts – two of the eight are currently working.
