Until recently, Covid cases in the US continued to rise each day. In January, US was getting over 250K new cases each day. Also nearly 4000 deaths were happening per day. This rise in the cases is due to people gathering during Thanksgiving, Christmas and the rest of holiday season.
Now that the holiday season over, the new cases everyday are continuing to improve for last several weeks. The cases now average a little over 100K each day and the number is dropping each day. The daily deaths also are now under 3000 per day.
Even though these are still high numbers, more and more people are now getting vaccines so the cases will continue to go down. The new president, Biden, promised to give 100 million vaccines in his first 100 days. So by about May or June, the situation will have improved by a lot.
