Pres. Biden and VP Kamala Harris were sworn in on January 20. Pres. Biden is the 46th president of the US. He plans to change many of Trump’s policies. This inauguration was different from regular inaugurations because many Americans could not attend in person. The reason behind this is that a mob of angry protesters stormed the US capitol building earlier in the month. 200,000 flags were placed to represent many Americans that could not attend. VP Kamala Harris was first sworn in by Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Pres. Biden was then next sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Judge John Roberts. Pres. Biden gave a speech about unity after being sworn in. Once the speech was over, a poet, Amanda Gorman, read her poem called “The Hill We Climb” out loud.
