Last Summer a group of teens on an ATV found a gas pipe leak which was originally thought to be only 63,000 gallons of gasoline. The Company Colonial Pipeline Co. admitted that it was 1.2 million gallons instead. This took place in North Carolina and was caused by a ruptured gas pipeline.
The company Colonial Pipeline Co. was held fully responsible. They have installed wells to see if any underground water has been contaminated. As of right now 740,000 gallons of gas have been removed from the contaminated area.
