McDonald’s is planning on opening over 1,900 new stores over the course of 2023. Over 400 of these stores will be in the U.S. or other internationally operated markets, such as Germany, Canada, France, Australia, Canada, and the U.K. The rest of the 1,500 will be in developmental licensee and affiliate markets, and the 900 of those will be in China. The company is planning on spending $2.2 to $2.4 billion on capital expenditures, and about half of that will be spent on new openings. This is the first time since 2014 that McDonald’s has attempted to grow its US stores.
