NASA has sent a new spacecraft to study 8 different asteroids – one is in the asteroid belt in between Mars and Jupiter, and the remaining 7 are in Jupiter’s Trojan belt. Named Lucy, it will study them over the next 12 years. Lucy is a solar powered spacecraft, with 2 big solar power arrays. They are each almost 24 meters wide! Lucy will take years to make it to the first Trojan asteroid, but they are still worth the wait. Recently though, Lucy may have some problems with it’s solar panels. The spacecraft was launched 3 days ago at 5:34 a.m EDT.
