In France, French president Emmanuel Macron has decided to place new lockdown restrictions on the country. During this new lockdown, schools will be closed for about 3 weeks. This is France’s 3rd wave of new infections. The total deaths for the country are almost 100,000, hospitals are filled up, and less vaccines than expected are being given out. Taking all of this into consideration, Macron had to close the country. He had a goal of keeping France open so that businesses would do better and the economy would regenerate, but he is now forced to get rid of it.
For the first part of the school-closure, all of the country will be on a holiday for two weeks. The next one week, everyone will be doing virtual learning. After that, middle and high school students will stay virtual, and kids 11 and younger will be going back to school in person. Currently, France is getting around 40,000 new cases a day, twice as many as February.
