Today, I will be giving out my grades for each team for each major trade that happened the day of the trade deadline or just before it.
Trade 1: Chiefs trade a 2025 6th for WR Mecole Hardman and a 2025 7th with the Jets
- Chiefs: B
- Jets: B
- The Chiefs got a speedy WR that showed flashes while with KC that they just let walk last offseason. Hardman was being severely underused in NY, and Hardman got a fresh start, Kansas City got a known receiver, and New York got something for a free agent signing that didn’t work out.
Trade 2: Eagles trade S Terrell Edmunds, and a 2024 5th and 6th for S Kevin Byard with the Titans
- Eagles: A
- Titans: C
- The Eagles get a former All-Pro safety for essentially nothing, a few late round picks and an unspectacular safety. The Titans decide to get rid of a veteran, but I still think they should’ve gotten more for a former All-Pro.
Trade 3: Seahawks trade a 2024 2nd and a 2025 5th for DL Leonard Williams with the Giants
- Seahawks: C
- Giants: A
- The Seahawks made an all-in move, trading a 2nd and 5th for Leonard Williams to fix a major problem on their team – Defensive Line. I still think this is a steep price to pay though, and the Giants, who aren’t going anywhere this year, got a lot for an old player on an expiring deal.
Trade 4: Commanders trade EDGE Montez Sweat for a 2024 second round pick with the Bears
- Bears: C
- Commanders: B-
- The Bears gave up way too much for Sweat, considering that the Commanders likely would have let him walk, and how much teammate Chase Young, who is 3 years young and more talented (with less production), went for (next trade). The Commanders get a premium pick for a player on an expiring deal they likely weren’t going to resign.
Trade 5: Commanders trade EDGE Chase Young for 2024 3rd round pick with the 49ers
- Commanders: C-
- 49ers: A+
- How did the 49ers do this? Nearly every team in the NFL should have been willing to pay this price, considering Young is only 24, has elite potential, and shown flashes of it (albeit with Injury Issues and not a lot of Production). The Niners are going all-in, and Commanders are getting ready for a reset.
Trade 6: Cardinals trade QB Joshua Dobbs and 2024 7th for 2024 6th round pick with the Vikings
- Vikings: B
- Cardinals: B
- This was a solid trade for both teams, as Dobbs became expendable for Arizona with the promotion of Clayton Tune as the starter, and Kyler Murray’s impending return. Minnesota gets a low-risk, high-reward player to try and replace Kirk Cousins after his unfortunate Season ending Achilles injury.
Trade 7: Packers trade CB Rasul Douglas and 2024 5th for 2024 3rd round pick with the Bills
- Bills: B-
- Packers: B
- The Packers, who have struggled this year, get something back for a player who hasn’t been great this year. The Bills get some much needed CB help, considering 2022 first round pick Kaiir Elam hasn’t worked out, and lockdown corner Tre’davious White has been lost for the year.
Trade 8: Lions trade 2025 6th for WR Donovan Peoples-Jones with the Browns
- Lions: B+
- Browns: C
- The Browns get something for a player who performed amazing last year, but has fallen out of favor this year. People-Jones is a free agent after this year, and he helps out Detroit at least for the rest of this year as a potential WR 3/4
