NFL Wide Receiver Found Dead

Former NFL wide receiver Demaryius Thomas passed away at his home on December 10. He was 33 years old. According to police, Thomas’s death might have been caused by seizures. Thomas was a great man and football player, helping the Denver Broncos to a victory in Super Bowl 50, catching an 80-yard game-winning touchdown on a short pass by Tim Tebow in the first play in overtime in the 2011 AFC Wild Card game, and catching Peyton Manning’s 509th career touchdown pass, which gave Manning the career record at the time.

This is tragic news for every football fan, regardless of which team you follow. Thomas was a great man on and off the field. He was recruited at a young age and had just retired in June, so he didn’t get to enjoy much of his retirement. Even if you didn’t like Thomas, you have to feel sad. Thomas spent his 10-year career with the Broncos, New York Jets and Houston Texans.

The Broncos tweeted, “We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden, tragic passing of Demaryius Thomas. D.T. was beloved by our entire organization, his teammates and coaches, and our fans. Recently retiring as a Bronco, we were very much looking forward to celebrating Demaryius for years to come as one of the greatest players in franchise history.” They later added, “Demaryius’ humility, warmth, kindness and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him.” Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Thomas family.
