Ravens and Chiefs trade

The Kansas City Chiefs just traded for Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. for what The Athletic’s Nate Taylor calls a “package of draft picks”.

The Ravens acquired the 31st overall pick, a 3rd-round pick (94th overall), and a 4th-rounder (136th overall) in this year’s NFL Draft, along with a 5th-round pick in 2022.

The Chiefs will receive Brown, a 2021 second-round pick(#58), and a 2022 sixth-round selection.

I’m sure Chiefs fans will be very delighted to hear this news, after watching the megastar quarterback Patrick Mahomes get pressured multiple times in the Super Bowl. So, the Chiefs front office wanted to go get a Pro Bowl-caliber offensive tackle who could protect Mahomes at all costs. Also, the Chiefs now have 2 second-round picks, so it will be interesting to see what they do with them. They have other needs as well, including center, defensive end, wide receiver, and cornerback

Brown has experience blocking for MVP quarterbacks, as he was the offensive tackle for Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. Baltimore apparently wanted a first-round selection, but wasn’t happy with any of the offers they received until the Chiefs reached out to them over the last day-and-a-half.

Now, Brown is young, tough, and has 2 Pro Bowl appearances in his 3-year career, and Baltimore will certainly miss him.  However, they should be content with the value they got in return from K.C.

I think that this deal worked out well for both teams, but we’ll see how it goes!
