The Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy, has confirmed that job ‘eliminations’ will continue through 2023. He said that the company ‘hired rapidly’ over the last few years, but the economy is in a challenging spot. He did not say how many people will be laid off or when, but he said that impacted employees will be notified before the layoffs are public. According to the New York Times, up to 10,000 jobs could be cut. Amazon is the latest tech giant to make layoffs, but it isn’t the only one. Meta and Twitter have also implemented mass layoffs.
