The US government has a problem – a big one. According to the Treasury Secretary, in less than 3 weeks, they could run out of money to pay their bills. Congress will need to quickly increase the government’s borrowing limit to save themselves from a money crisis. The problem is, Republicans are blocking the Democrats from increasing or suspending the debt ceiling, but their intentions are not wrong. Their reason is that if Congress increases the debt ceiling now, they will need to pay back even more money in the future, giving Congress a bigger problem – both sides are right in their own ways. If Congress runs out of money, many people would not get Social Security payments, child tax credits, and the military’s paychecks could all be jeopardized.
