The United States military just shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon off the Carolina coast. This balloon was flying across sensitive military sites in North America. Biden said he was planning on shooting it down on Wednesday, but he ultimately decided shooting it while it was over water was best, as bringing it down over land would create a risk for people on the ground. China has not said this is a military balloon, and they are continuing to claim that it was a weather research airship. Due to this airship, the US secretary of state Anthony Blinken canceled his visit to Beijing.
