The FDA has added a new warning to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The warning says there is a small risk of heart inflammation. The two types of inflammation in the warning are myocarditis and pericarditis. “Myocarditis is the inflammation of the heart muscle and pericarditis is the inflammation of the tissue surrounding the heart.” Even though there is a chance of heart inflammation, health officials say that it is still worth it to get the vaccines. In total, out of 300 million doses administered, only 1,200 cases of inflammation have been found, mostly in people under 30. That is about 12.6 cases per million shots.
