The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is investigating an incident of a close call between two planes on a runway at the JFK International Airport in NYC. Apparently, an air traffic controller was heard saying “Delta 1943, cancel takeoff clearance! Delta 1943, cancel takeoff clearance!”, after he noticed an American Airlines Boeing 777 crossing the runway in front of a Delta Boeing 737 that was about to take off. Apparently, the Delta flight stopped takeoff about 1,000 feet before the American Airlines flight was crossing an adjacent taxiway. The Delta flight had 145 customers on board along with 6 crew members, and it returned to the gate after the incident and deplaned.
