Uber and Waymo are teaming up on making self-driving trucks. They announced a “long-term strategic partnership”, and they will put Waymo’s self-driving trucks on Uber Freight, “a logistics platform that matches trucks with businesses shipping goods”. Carries that purchase Waymo trucks can use Uber Freight to find customers. Waymo is currently not offering the trucks for sale, so the partnership is expected to start within the next 12 months. Waymo filed a lawsuit against Uber 5 years ago, saying that the company was trying to steal secrets and intellectual property. The lawsuit was settled in 2018, and Uber gave Waymo $245 million of its own stock.
