United Airlines ordered 270 planes to replace old ones. It ordered 200 Boeing Max jets, and 70 Airbus planes. These planes together are worth over $30 billion, but it is possible that United will get a discount, because airline companies usually get discounts. This is a huge order for planes, and it is one of the biggest ever. Airlines are still struggling from the pandemic, which crushed travel, and their profitability along with it. This order is a big boost for Boeing and Airbus, and especially Boeing. It lost many orders after some of its planes were stopped from flying because of crashes. As more people are getting vaccinated, people are starting to travel more. In April 2020, when the pandemic started, only 100,000 people flew per day. On Sunday, there was 2.2 million people flying, which is a huge increase for airline companies, but still not as high as the numbers used to be.
